Reports, demand for air conditioners is projected to grow 20% to 12-13 million units over the coming decade, yet there have been reports that Narendra Modi government may offer free Air Conditioners under their ‘PM Modi AC Yojana 2025″.
As per reports circulating around, it has been indicated that the Government plans on offering free 5-star air conditioners; 1.5 crore ACs have already been prepared for delivery.

After we conducted our Google search to ascertain that no such announcement had been made by the government, reports indicate that they may be thinking of offering incentives for people to purchase new 5-star ACs instead of three star models that most households currently possess. As most Indian homes currently rely on electricity bills of Rs 6300 annually and this plan could potentially bring that down by 6300 annually!
People might soon have access to certified recyclers to exchange their old air conditioners with, as reports suggested that rebates on free 5-star ACs (and 1.5 crore in total). But according to reports by PIB Fact Check of the Centre’s fact check unit have refuted it and called them fake; on social media the government stated: X “This post widely shared on social media claims that under PM Modi AC Yojana 2025 the Government will provide free 5-star air conditioners; 1.5 crore ACs have already been prepared.
